Car Care - Carcare.ie - “Ireland’s dedicated detailing site”
I haven’t had as much time to peruse this site as I usually like to have, but this looks really interesting - and relevant. You or I would probably not be here if we did not care about our cars ... a website to cater for that interest makes perfect sense to me! Bravo!

Volvo PC Game - launched May 2009
This is no marketing rubbish - but a real game. It reminded me somewhat of TOCA 2 ... it really is good. Get to drive some modern Volvo hardware without leaving your armchair! A reasonably decent system is required to play it though. I wouldn’t recommend anything less than a Pentium 4 / 2.6 ghz. Download it here ( redirects to Volvo’s site )
Car Clubs:
480 Club Europe
Just about the best resource for 480’s on the Web. Netherlands - based with Worldwide membership ( membership is free, donations welcome ). Features include extensive forums, Technical data, Galleries, club meetings in Europe and much more! Most certainly “everything 480 under one ( virtual ) roof”!

Volvo Owner’s Club
For all Volvo owners: everything from the P1800 to Amazon to S80 to C30, and all inbetween / on the periphery! Excellent forums, galleries and resources. Ireland / U.K. meetings. British - based with Worldwide membership. Free to join ( Premier membership option available, but ‘free’ genuinely means ‘free’ on this site ). The best resource on the web for Volvo in general.

Other Volvo Clubs ( good ones too! )
“Adam’s Volvo 480 site’ has been around for a while now ... this is a guy who’s got the ‘Volvo bug’ bad, 480’s in particular! Follow the links and you’ll find some interesting stuff indeed, from ongoing projects to a peek at other people’s 480’s.

Gaz's Volvo 480 site ( hey, isn't Gaz a Russian car?! ) This site is also a very good one ... this guy has a heavy involvement in the 480 europe site at the top of the page. Very good all ‘round site, which dares to enter the territory of ‘modding’ your 480 too, if you’re into that sort of thing!

Volvo Parts ( new ):

Spirit Motor Group: If you live in Dublin, or even Co. Dublin, Spirit Motor Group in Sandyford - incorporating the former ‘JPS Motors’ Volvo dealers of Dun Laoghaire - are great for parts. I’ve been dealing with these folk for years now, and I’ve always found them to be customer - focused. Most parts can be got ‘next day’.

Volvo Parts ( Used ):
Southside Motor Spares ( Car Dismantler’s ), The West Pier, DunLaoghaire, Co. Dublin. I’ve been going to these guys for quite a while - I’ve never yet got a dud part, and their prices are on the reasonable side too. Seem like the sort of guys you could go back to if there ever was a problem.

Ebay: Volvo Pit. This German - based ebayer exclusively strips Volvo’s, and usually has a good stock of 480 parts along with the rest of the range of older stuff. His prices are reasonable, and I can testify that he ships stuff very quickly. Postage rates from Germany are quite good, too.

Best Irish Car Classifieds ( New & Used ):
Car Buyer’s Guide: This is where I picked up the 480. The online version of the Magazine is really good for getting a handle on prices. Like the magazine, the site is easy to browse.
www.cbg.ie
Carzone.ie: Like the above, this is one of the ‘main’ sites:
http://www.carzone.ie/usedcars/
Note: I have left out Autotrader.ie as they advertise too many cars in Sterling, and too many Irish importers of various pedigree advertise cars that have been brought over from the U.K. If you want to look at British cars / prices fine, but why call it ‘Irish’? - that’s just wasting people’s time. I also applied for a job with them once and didn’t get it, so I’m bitter too.
Technical Diagrams:
This Russian site is very impressive. As the intro. reads: “More than 5,100 car drawings from 150 car manufacturers”. It’s free too!
The level of technical detail varies, as do perspectives ( the latter is denoted beside each plans set on the site ) Overall it’s a great resource.

Pre - Purchase History check:
Motorcheck: Do a basic pre - purchase check online. Tells you if the Year, Model, Colour matches the registration number ( you can get better / more detail through a paid check ).

Bangernomics: cheap Motoring ‘How to’ ...
This site has been around for a long while now, and is a brilliant resource for anyone buying / running an older car. Don’t be offended by the name, it’s really worth a look!
